Isabel was born in Charlottesville, VA and received her BFA of Fashion Design from VCU in 2013. She has been pursuing a career in fashion since the age of 4, playing with barbies and drawing croquis while laying on her bedroom floor. Various family members taught Isabel how to sew by hand at the age of 8, and utilizing a machine at the age of 13. She participated in the pilgrimage to NYC upon graduation, however quickly realized that lifestyle was not for her. Isabel then moved back to RVA to pursue her own line, ?is.?.
Isabel?s design aesthetic is a mixture of classic looks combined with an edgy and independent feel. Her goal is to create fashionable clothing that is suitable for every woman. Her line ?is.? is more than just Isabel?s nickname. To her fashion just is. As french fashion designer Coco Chanel once said, "Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."
Art is all around us in the form of design. Isabel's goal is to be able to show this in the media of fashion. Her art is an attempt to express color and form in all their beauty. She utilizes various harmonies and surface textures to be visually engaging and stimulating while depicting the form to be aesthetically pleasing.
